Domain preparation of raw materials from mines
valtsimine
Usage examples
  • Metalli töötlemine hõlmab metallide keevitamist, torude valtsimist, stantsimist, pulbriliste metallide pressimist, metalli välispinna tugevdamist ja muid operatsioone.
rolling
Usage examples
  • Rolling is the most widely used method of shaping metals and is particularly important in the manufacture of steel for use in construction and other industries. Rolling may be done while the steel is hot (hot-rolling) or cold (cold-rolling). The process consists of passing the metal between pairs of rollers revolving at the same speed but in opposite directions and spaced so that the distance between them is slightly less than the thickness of the metal.

Domain maritime traffic; seaborne traffic
  • tasakaaluasendist hälbinud laeva kõikumine ümber horisontaalse pikitelje (muutuv kreen). R. halvendab inimeste ja mehhanismide töötingimusi: koormab konstruktsioone inertsijõududega, võib põhjustada lasti nihkumise laadruumis ning avaldab laeval viibivatele inimestele füsioloogilist mõju (merehaigus). Vabavõnkeperiood sõltub laevakere kujust ja lasti raskuskeskme asendist. Mida suurem on rullumise periood ja väiksem amplituud, seda vähem avalduvad rullumise negatiivsed tagajärjed.
  • the transverse oscillating rotation of a vessel about a longitudinal axis, which results when it meets waves with crests approximately parallel to the length of the ship. When a vessel rolls, it disturbs a much larger cross section of water than when it is steady. This increases its resistance to propulsion, and requires a corresponding increase in the propulsive power necessary for a given speed.

rolling
Usage examples
  • Main propulsion machinery and all auxiliary machinery essential to the propulsion and the safety of the ship shall, as fitted in the ship, be designed to operate when the ship is upright and when inclined at any angle of list up to and including 15° either way under static conditions and 22,5° under dynamic conditions (rolling) either way and simultaneously inclined dynamically (pitching) 7,5° by bow or stern.
