Good to know
  • Delay is conducted when a force is being pressed by an enemy, and is required to trade space for time, reducing the enemy’s momentum and inflicting damage without itself becoming decisively committed. All in order to allow more time for the preparation of other tactical activities, likely a defence or a return to offensive activities. A delay may be conducted to slow down an enemy’s advance, while reducing its combat power, gather information about enemy intentions, or protect friendly forces that need time to prepare for combat. A delay may also allow the commander to shape the battlefield and create the conditions for following counter-attacks.
