  • Kolme ühenduse ühtse komisjonina moodustati liitmislepinguga 1967. aastal ja tema ametlik nimetus oli Euroopa Ühenduste Komisjon. Euroopa Komisjon ei ole end ametlikult nimetanud Euroopa Liidu Komisjoniks. Euroopa Komisjoni juhib president. Euroopa Komisjoni peasekretariaat valmistab ette komisjoni päevakorra ning korraldab suhtlemist teiste ühenduse institutsioonide ja liikmesriikidega. Komisjoni toetava tsiviilametkonna moodustavad peadirektoraadid, millest igaühe pädevuses on teatava valdkonna ühine poliitika ja ühine haldustegevus.
