  • ajujää - tuule ja hoovuste toimel veekogul triiviv jää. A-d iseloomustavad iga, sulamisaste, lumikatte olemasolu, tihedus ja jäävälja horisontaalmõõtmed. Väikeste jääväljade horisontaalmõõtmed on 0,5-2 km, suurtel 2-10 km, ulatuslikel 10 km ja rohkem. A. tihedust iseloomustatakse jäätükkide pindala ja nendevahelise vaba vee pindala suhtega; seda väljendatakse pallides (1-10).
