  • By this Treaty, the HIGH CONTRACTING PARTIES establish among themselves a EUROPEAN COMMUNITY. The Community shall have as its task, by establishing a common market and an economic and monetary union and by implementing common policies or activities referred to in Articles 3 and 4, to promote throughout the Community a harmonious, balanced and sustainable development of economic activities, a high level of employment and of social protection, equality between men and women, sustainable and non-inflationary growth, a high degree of competitiveness and convergence of economic performance, a high level of protection and improvement of the quality of the environment, the raising of the standard of living and quality of life, and economic and social cohesion and solidarity among Member States.
  • The Union shall be founded on the present Treaty and on the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (hereinafter referred to as “the Treaties”). Those two Treaties shall have the same legal value. The Union shall replace and succeed the European Community.

  • Kuni 1960. aastani oli neli teaduskonda: agronoomia, veterinaaria, zootehnika ja põllumajanduse mehhaniseerimise teaduskond. 1961. aastal lisandusid agronoomiateaduskonnale põllumajandusliku raamatupidamise ja tootmisõpetuse erialad. Hiljem lisandusid veterinaariateaduslonnale liha- ja piimatehnoloogia erialad. Põllumajanduse mehhaniseerimise teaduskonnas toimus õppetöö nii eesti- kui ka vene keeles. Mesinduse õppejõuna töötas EPA-s 1951–1956 August Mätlik. Alates 1956. aastast luges mesindusloenguid Paul Juurikas ja hiljem Ilme Nõmmisto.
