Oluline on kasutada õiget kaubakoodi samaks teada kauba tolli-, aktsiisi- ja käibemaksuga maksustamist, keeldud ja piirangutega seotud meetmeid ja päritolureeglite rakendamist. Kaubakoode saab leida Eesti tollitariifistikust ning see on deklarandi ülesanne.
