Since 1971, the Community has granted trade preferences to developing countries under its scheme of generalised tariff preferences.The Union’s common commercial policy shall be guided by the principles and pursue the objectives set out in the general provisions on the Union’s external action, laid down in Article 21 of the Treaty on European Union.
