Domain strength of materialsproduct quality & testing of products
  • materjali võime vastu panna väikesele kohalikule plastsele deformatsioonile; väikeste koormustega (kuni 2 N) otsaku/indentori materjali sisse surumise teel määratav kõvadus (vt Vickersi kõvadus, Knoopi kõvadus; vrd makrokõvadus)
    Good to know
    • Kuna tegemist on väga väikeste indenteerimisjälgedega, kasutatakse nende mõõtmiseks vastavat mikroskoopi. Kasutatakse erinevate struktuuriosade kui ka erinevail sügavustel pinnakõvaduste mõõtmisel, nt difusioonkarastusel/difusioonkõvendusel. (vt difusioonkarastus/difusioonkõvendus)
  • the hardness of a material as determined by forcing an indenter such as a Vickers or Knoop indenter into the surface of a material under very light load (see: Vickers hardness, Knoop hardness; compare: macrohardness)
    Good to know
    • Usually, the indentations are so small that they must be measures with a microscope. Capable of determining hardnesses of different microconstituents within a structure, or of measuring steep hardness gradients such as encountered in case hardening. (see: case hardening)
