Forces available for NATO for possible Article-5 or non-Article-5 operations have been given the following designations: Forces under NATO command (NATO Command Forces) These are standing forces/HQs which countries have put under the operational command / control of an allied NATO commander. NATO Assigned Forces These are forces/HQs which countries agree to place under operational command/ control of a NATO commander in accordance with NATO’s readiness system / NATO’s crisis-management system, or as determined by special agreements such as MOU, or as requested by a strategic NATO commander on the basis of a NATO agreed operational plan or implementaion directive. NATO Earmarked Forces These are forces / HQs which the countries are willing to place under operational command or operational control of a NATO commander at a future date. Other forces for NATO These are forces / HQs which are placed under operational command or operational control of a NATO commander under conditions defined later, or forces which can collaborate with NATO forces.
