Kui võlli spetsifikatsioonitähis on 30 h7 (vt ISO 286-1 ja ISO 14405-1), siis see tähis tähistab mitteideaalse silindrilise pinna koorikmudelist lähtuvalt ülemist ja alumist piirmõõdet, seoseks ideaalse silindri vähimruutude kriteerium, seotuna võlliga risti asetsevate sirgjoonte ehitamisega ja kahe punkti eraldamisega iga sirgjoone kohta, kus joon lõikub mitteideaalse silindrilise pinnaga, kusjuures suurim kaugus punktide vahel on võrreldav ülemise piirmõõtmega ja väikseim alumise piirmõõtmega.

Spetsifikatsioonitähis on tehnilises tootedokumentatsioonis esitatud GPS-spetsifikaadi(te) kombinatsiooni täieliku tõlgendamise tulemus vastavalt ISO GPS standarditele. Spetsifikatsioonitähis ei tohi olla ebamäärane, vaid spetsifikatsioonitähis läbimõõdu kohta peab olema alati üheselt määratletud, kas kahepunktimõõde, vähimruutude mõõde, suurim sissejoonestatud mõõde, vähim ümberjoonestatud mõõde jne, kuid mitte üldmõiste „läbimõõt“. Erinevus spetsifikatsioonitähise ja funktsionaalse tähise vahel põhjustab toote funktsiooni kirjelduse mitmetimõistetavust.

The specification operator is the result of the full interpretation of the combination of the GPS specification(s) indicated in the technical product documentation according to ISO GPS standards. A specification operator can be incomplete and could, in such a case, introduce ambiguity of specification. A specification operator is intended to define, for example, a specific possible “diameter” in a cylinder (two point diameter, minimum circumscribed circle diameter, maximum inscribed circle diameter, least squares circle diameter, etc.), and not the generic concept “diameter”. The difference between the specification operator and the functional operator causes ambiguity of the description of the function.
