  • name/symbol of the CGS unit for magnetic flux density
gauss
Usage examples
  • Gauss (G) on magnetinduktsiooni ühik CGS-süsteemis. kus üks gauss vastab magnetvoo tihedusele, mis tekitab 10⁻⁸ volti väärtusega elektromotoorjõu igas sentimeetris juhtmes, kui see liigub risti magnetvooga kiirusega üks sentimeeter sekundis. Üks gauss vastab 10⁻⁴ teslale (T), ja gauss võrdub ka ühe maksvelliga ruutsentimeetri kohta ehk 10⁻⁴ veeberiga ruutmeetri kohta. Gauss on nimetatud saksa teadlase Carl Friedrich Gaussi järgi.
Good to know
  • Termin „gauss“ on määratletud standardis IEC 80000-6.
G symbol
Usage examples
  • 1 G = 10-4 T.
gauss
Usage examples
  • Gauss (G), unit of magnetic induction in the centimetre-gram-second system of physical units. One gauss corresponds to the magnetic flux density that will induce an electromotive force of one abvolt (10-8 volt) in each linear centimetre of a wire moving laterally at one centimetre per second at right angles to a magnetic flux. One gauss corresponds to 10-4 tesla (T), and is equal to 1 maxwell per square centimetre, or 10−4 weber per square metre. The gauss was named for the German scientist Carl Friedrich Gauss.
Good to know
  • The term "gauss" is defined in IEC 80000-6.

Usage examples
  • 1 G = 10-4 T.
