Oru ruutkeskmine hälve, tähistatuna 3D-s Svk või 2D-s Pvq ja Rvq, võimaldab mõõta ja hinnata pinnaprofiili ruutkeskmist hälvet orgudes või lohkudes, mis asuvad südamiku/põhi pinnamaterjali all.

Dale root mean square deviation (referred to as Svk in 3D or Pvq and Rvq in 2D) measures the root mean square deviation of the surface profile within the "dales" - the valleys or depressions located below the core surface material.
The dale root mean square deviation can thus be interpreted as the Sq-value, in micrometrs, of the random process that generated the dale component of the surface.
