Three electromagnetic propulsion technologies, solid propellant pulsed· plasma thrusters (PPT) , magnetoplasmadynamic (MPD) thrusters, and pulsed inductive thrusters (PIT); have been developed for application to auxiliary and primary spacecraft propulsion.
