one of three narrative sections that make up a unit of drama (scene, sequence, episode, overall work). It is defined in relation to the protagonist's objective. (Lavandier, 2005) Each act has its own beginning, middle, and end, and climax (Vogler, 2007, p. xxiii). Operating in each act are various plot devices intended to intensify conflict, develop characters, and propel the plot forward. (Dancyger & Rush, 2013, p. 2) Feature scripts are normally structured in three acts, the second roughly twice the length of the first and third. Plot Points propel one act into the next. The first act is generally the set-up; the second the conflict, or the plot and the third the climax and resolution. (Costello, 2004).
