Sõnale episood on inglise keele mõjul lisandunud tähendused ’järjeloo osa, jagu’ ja ’haigusjuhtum, haigushoog’. Kui tähendus jääb kontekstis ebaselgeks, sobib kasutada sünonüüme osa, jagu ja haigushoog, haigusjuhtum.
