Operating in each act are various plot devices intended to intensify conflict, develop characters, and propel the plot forward. (Dancyger & Rush, 2013, p. 2) Feature scripts are normally structured in three acts, the second roughly twice the length of the first and third. Plot Points propel one act into the next. The first act is generally the set-up; the second the conflict, or the plot and the third the climax and resolution. (Costello, 2004).
