Given the need not to affect the resources required to extend further telephone penetration in the coming years, the continuation of the gradual approach envisaged by Portugal for further tariff decreases seems therefore justified, in view of the rebalancing already achieved to date and the firm commitments to complete the process by reducing trunk and international tariffs by the year 2000.
