any fabric made by interlacing fibres or yarns which (in the U.K.) does not exceed 45 cm in width. In the U.S.A., and for the purpose of the Tariff code in the EC, the upper limit of width is 30 cm. A characteristic of a narrow fabric is that its edges are an essential feature.
