CO2 heitkogused, mis eralduvad välisõhku kütuste põlemisel energia tootmiseks, määratakse järgmiselt:
1.1. arvutatakse kütusekulu;
1.2. kütusekulu arvutatakse ümber ühtsesse mõõtsüsteemi energiaühikule;
1.3. arvutatakse või leitakse vastava kütuse jaoks lisas 3 etteantud süsiniku eriheide qc kütuse süsinikusisalduse järgi;
1.4. määratakse oksüdeerunud süsiniku osa Kc ja arvutatakse kütuste süsiniku heitkogus Mc;
1.5. arvutatakse kütuse süsiniku heitkoguse Mc alusel välisõhku eralduva CO2 heitkogus Mco2.
