Member State shall, where appropriate, restrict the areas eligible for production aid for unginned cotton on the basis of objective criteria relating to:
- the agricultural economy of those regions where cotton is a major crop,
- the soil and climate in the areas in question,
- the management of irrigation water,
- rotation systems and cultivation methods likely to improve the environment.
