Tõug või eristatud osa ühte tõugu kuuluvate loomade populatsioonist loetakse ohustatuks, kui aretuses kasutatavate emasloomade arv on alla tuhande või isasloomade arv alla kahekümne ja emaslindude arv alla kümne tuhande või isaslindude arv alla tuhande (edaspidi ohustatud tõug).
