Juhul kui kahe riigi vahelised diplomaatilised suhted on katkenud või kui esindus on alatiseks või ajutiselt tagasi kutsutud: a) peab asukohariik isegi relvastatud kokkupõrke korral respekteerima ja kaitsma esinduse valdusi koos selle vara ja arhiividega; b) võib lähetajariik usaldada esinduse valduste, selle vara ja arhiivide valve kolmandale riigile, mis on vastuvõetav asukohariigile; c) võib lähetajariik usaldada enda ja oma kodanike huvide kaitse kolmandale riigile, mis on vastuvõetav asukohariigile.
