In certain Member States clearing and settlement functions may be performed by bodies separate from the markets on which transactions are effected; whereas, accordingly, any reference in this Directive to access to and membership of regulated markets should beread as including references to access to and membership of bodies performing clearing and settlement functions for regulated markets.
