Diagnostic x-ray
Diagnostic x-ray beam-limiting device. Line or spot luorographic x-ray camera.
A major advantage of lens-based coupling, as noted earlier, is that it can be used to accomodate more than one camera. This is achieved by using a semitransparent mirror, placed between the aperture and the camera lenses, to act as a beam-splitter which distributes the light from the output phosphor to a cine (or spot film) camera and a video camera simultaneously (figure 4.12). Images can thus be viewed on a video monitor at the same time as recording onto film. In many systems, the mirror is automatically removed from the path of the light beam during screening to optimize the quality of the fluoroscopic images.
