Domain organic chemistryair pollution & toxic gases
  • orgaaniline ühend ja kreosoodi fraktsioon, mille aururõhk temperatuuril 293,15 kelvinit (K) on vähemalt 0,01 kilopaskalit (kPa) või millel on konkreetsetes kasutustingimustes nimetatud aururõhule vastav lenduvus
  • any organic compound as well as the fraction of creosote, having at 293,15 K a vapour pressure of 0,01 kPa or more, or having a corresponding volatility under the particular conditions of use
lenduv orgaaniline ühend
Usage examples
  • Lenduvad orgaanilised ühendid (LOÜ) on sünteetilised ja looduslikud ained, mis lenduvad isegi toatemperatuuril. Levinuimad LOÜd on metaan, aldehüüdid, ketoonid jt. Selliseid aineid esineb kodukeemiatoodetes. Suures koguses esineb neid aga lahustites ja lakkide, värvide, liimide koostises.

volatile organic compound
Usage examples
  • Most air toxics are organic chemicals, comprising molecules that contain carbon, hydrogen, and other atoms. Many are volatile organic compounds (VOCs), organic compounds that readily evaporate. VOCs include pure hydrocarbons, partially oxidized hydrocarbons, and organic compounds containing chlorine, sulfur, or nitrogen. They are widely used as fuels (e.g., propane and gasoline), as paint thinners and solvents, and in the production of plastics. In addition to contributing to air toxicity and urban smog, some VOC emissions act as greenhouse gases and, in so doing, contribute to global warming.
