  • Ackerman steering - the steering system commonly used on four-wheel vehicles, such as the automobile. The wheels are not on a common axle, but pivot on their own individual axles in a coordinated fashion, with the wheel on the inside of the turn placed at a slightly greater angle than the wheel on the outside of the turn, allowing each to trace curves of different radii emitting from the same point.
