Domain microbiologyimmunology
  • an agent used as a vehicle for transfer
  • an agent (usually an insect) which transmits a disease caused by a parasite or micro-organism from one host to another.

Usage examples
  • BSE in bovine animals is considered to originate from the use in feed of protein obtained from ruminants, constituting a vector for the transmission of agents of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies and not effectively treated to inactivate such agents.

vektorsuurus preferred
  • quantity which can be represented by a vector multiplied by a scalar quantity
vektorsuurus preferred
Usage examples
  • Vektorsuurusteks on nt kiirus, jõud ja elektrivälja tugevus.
Good to know

vector quantity preferred
Usage examples
  • Examples of vector quantities are: velocity, force, electric field strength.
Good to know
  • The vector defining a vector quantity is generally a unit vector in the usual two- or three-dimensional geometrical space. A vector quantity can then be represented as an oriented line segment characterized by its point of acting, its direction and its magnitude, where the magnitude is a non-negative number multiplied by a unit of measurement. A vector quantity may be considered either as attached to a point of acting (localized or bound vector), or as having any point of acting on a straight line parallel to it (sliding vector), or as having any point of acting in the space (free vector).
