Domain papermaking industryquality control
crush resistance
Usage examples
  • The Corrugating medium test gives information about the behaviour of corrugated paper, once it has been formed in a fluter. A section of corrugated paper is glued, one-sided, to a carrier paper and then compression-loaded. The maximum load is characteristic of the behaviour of paper after fluting. A disadvantage of this method: only the A-flute is tested. If the crush resistance is to be determined, the behaviour of other types of flutes must be mathematically calculated.

Usage examples
  • The following is a summary of the procedure that should be applied to materials for the frontal impact barrier, these materials having a crush strength of 0,342 MPa and 1,711 MPa respectively.

Domain Standardisation - Metrology
  • survetugevus on materjali või struktuuri võime taluda koormusi, mis kipuvad mõõdet vähendama (erinevalt tõmbetugevusest, mis talub pikenevaid koormusi)
  • compressive strength or compression strength is the capacity of a material or structure to withstand loads tending to reduce size (as opposed to tensile strength which withstands loads tending to elongate)

Usage examples
  • Survetugevus on betooni tähtsaim omadust iseloomustav suurus, sest ehituses kasutataksegi betooni just survejõudude vastuvõtmiseks.
