The result is a pea which breaks or snaps like a green bean; the pods have thick walls, and are sweet and edible except for the strings. Unlike the snow pea, the sugar snap pea is allowed to mature and become fully rounded ... closely related to the common garden pea, so their culture is similar in many respects.
