seed which has been produced according to well-defined practices for the maintenance of the type or variety, seed which has been produced under the responsibility of the breeder according to accepted practices for the maintenance of the variety; which is intended for the production of seed of the category "certified seed" (q.v.); which, subject to the provisions of Article 4, satisfies the conditions laid down in Annexes I and II for basic seed; and which has been found by official examination to satisfy the above-mentioned conditions, sordi säilitamiseks ettenähtud meetodite kohaselt toodetud seeme, mis on ette nähtud järgnevate põlvkondade eliit- või sertifitseeritud seemne tootmiseks, supereliitseemnest toodetav seeme, võib kasutada seemnepõldude rajamiseks, kuulub kohustuslikule sertifitseerimisele Taimetoodangu Inspektsiooni poolt, järelkontroll 100%, supereliitseemnega külvatud põllult kogutud hea saagivõimega ja sordipuhas seeme. Eestis kasvatab eliitseemet peamiselt Jõgeva Sordiaretuse Instituut.
