If, for any reason, freezing is initiated before or after the specified temperature range abandon the test and repeat with another test portion of the milk. If the repeat sample also freezes before the specified temperature a further portion of the sample should be warmed to 45o C and held for five minutes to allow melting of crystalline fat.
