an acute or chronic contagious disease of wild and domestic birds which is transmittable to humans and other animals, and is caused by Chlamydia psittaci. Results in respiratory and systemic infections including, in humans, a disease resembling pneumonia.
In addition, psittacidae must: (a) not come from a holding nor have been in contact with animals from a holding on which psittacosis (Chlamydia psittaci) has been diagnosed.
