  • Õhurõhu gradiendi järgi saab näiteks öelda üht-teist tuule tugevuse kohta: mida suurem on õhurõhu gradient ehk muutus pikkusühiku kohta, seda tugevam on tuul (väga suure gradiendi puhul torm). Õhurõhu gradienti saab hinnata ilmakaartidel isobaaride ehk õhurõhusamajoonte paiknemise tiheduse järgi: mida lähemal isobaarid teineteisele asuvad, seda suurem gradient ja tugevam tuul või õhuvool.
