It is known that Pepino mosaic virus was first described in Peru on pepino, Solanum muricatum Ait. in 1980; there is no evidence that it has been detected outside Peru, until it appeared in the Community pursuant to the aforesaid information; however the source of contamination has not yet been clarified.
