Total cinema admissions in Europe rose from 662 million in 1995 to 844 million in 2000 (+27%) (3). This increase would appear to be due at least in part to the growth in the number of cinema screens in Europe, in particular multiplexes (+22% in 1999 vs. 1995) as well as improved facilities at cinemas.
