On the basis of current scientific and technical knowledge, it would appear, however, that the evidence presented by the Kingdom of Sweden does not justify withdrawal of the authorisations for the antibiotics monensin sodium and salinomycin sodium, of the ionophore group, since no ionophore is to date used in veterinary or human medicine and the two substances, in the current state of knowledge, do not select cross-resistance to antibiotics used in human or veterinary medicine.
