Domain screenwriting
  • the moment where the main character is the furthest from their goal, and often considers abandoning their vision [or goal] (Grove, 2009). Also known as big gloom, all is lost, death experience. The event in the story occurs [most often] at the second turning point. The protagonist is forced to face the worst thing that can happen in regards to achieving the goal of the plot. The stronger the death experience, the more the protagonist will feel as if all is lost. This pushes him or her into a period of descent from which there is no guarantee of recovery. The death experience, therefore, creates the highest level of jeopardy in the story. (Marks, 2009) Also see second turning point
