The definition of the Community standard consists of provisions on the approval and supervision of breeders' associations or organisations ..., herd books ... and admission for reproduction (methods of testing performance and assessing of genetic value). Compliance with the standard is controlled by certification or by issuing an animal passport.
2. Commission Regulation (EC) No 2629/97, as amended by Regulation (EC) No 1177/98, lays down detailied rules as regards ear-tags, holding registers and passports in the framework of the system of the identification and registration of bovine animals.
