Domain analytical chemistrymeasuring instruments
  • an instrument for comparing the thermal conductivities of two gases by comparing the rate of loss of heat from two heating coils surrounded by the gases
kataromeeter
Usage examples
  • Aerosoolproovide puhul kasutada detektorina kataromeetrit.
soojusjuhtivusdetektor
katharometer
TCD abbreviation
katharometer detector
Usage examples
  • 6.2. Gas chromatography 6.2.1. For aerosol samples the katharometer detector is used
catharometer detector
Usage examples
  • As an alternative a gas chromatograph employing a catharometer detector (working on the principle of thermal conductivity changes) may be used.

Domain metrologymeasuring instruments
kataromeeter deprecated
  • mõõtevahend gaasisegu koostise kindlaksmääramiseks soojusjuhtivuse mõõtmise teel
  • apparatus for determining the composition of a gas mixture by measuring thermal conductivity
soojusjuhtivusmõõtur preferred
Usage examples
  • Soojusjuhtivusmõõturit kasutatakse meditsiinis kopsufunktsiooni uuringute seadmetes ning gaasikromatograafias. Tulemuste saamine võtab kauem aega kui massispektraalanalüüsi korral, kuid see mõõtur on odav ja piisavalt täpne olukorras, kus gaasid on teada ning määrata tuleb vaid nende osakaal.
Good to know
kataromeeter deprecated
Good to know
  • Meeter on pikkusühik.
thermal conductivity detector preferred
Usage examples
  • The thermal conductivity detector is used medically in lung function testing equipment and in gas chromatography. The results are slower to obtain compared to a mass spectrometer, but the device is inexpensive, and has good accuracy when the gases in question are known, and it is only the proportion that must be determined.
Good to know
  • The thermal conductivity detector senses changes in the thermal conductivity of the column eluent and compares it to a reference flow of carrier gas. Since most compounds have a thermal conductivity much less than that of the common carrier gases of helium or hydrogen, when an analyte elutes from the column the effluent thermal conductivity is reduced, and a detectable signal is produced.
