Improteater on üle maailma palavalt armastatud teatrivorm, kus kõik sünnib publiku silme all. Etendused on improviseeritud, mis tähendab, et kõik sünnib siin ja praegu, midagi eelnevalt kokku leppimata – teksti ei ole pähe õpitud ja mängitavat lugu välja mõeldud. Näitlejad küsivad publiku käest märksõnu ja nendest inspireeritult hakkavad sündima põnevad stseenid, lõbusad sketšid, kaasahaaravad laulud ja vaimukad karakterid. Lisaks näitlejatele improviseerivad etendustel ka valgustaja ja muusikud.
Improvisation forces you to be in the present moment so it frees you from the chains of the past. But unlike a meditation where you become present with yourself, in improv you become present in the moment with another person. So it’s an active form of mindfulness. You are fully connected in the moment with another human being and it feels liberating.
Improv is unique in that if you see a performance, that’s it … there will never be another show exactly like it ever done again. Improv is different every time.
