1. There is a significant reduction in common prices with effect from the 1993/94 marketing year.
2. The Council of agricultural ministers sets common prices each year for the main agricultural products. These common prices used to be denominated in a specific unit of account, and subsequently came to be denominated in Ecus when the European Monetary System (EMS) was introduced. The common prices were originally converted into national prices using the exchange rate for each national currency.
