  • mõjutajale määratud ülesanne, millega kästakse nõutud mõju lahinguväljal
  • a task given to a fire support unit or organization that supports the commander's scheme of maneuver
Good to know
  • USA maaväes on kasutusel formaat: ülesanne ("task"), eesmärk ("purpose"), meetod ("method") ja mõju ("effect"). Eesti diviisis kasutatakse formaati: ülesanne ja eesmärk. Meetod ja mõju on kajastatud käsu muudes osades, millest olulisim on süvalahingu piktogramm. Fire support task ei ole sama, mis NATO fire support tactical task ega fire support tactical mission, neid peetakse Eesti kontekstis toetussuheteks ("relationship").
Good to know
  • A fire support task is an essential element of the fire support plan.
  • FST are task statements that the supported commander assigns to the FS unit or organization through which the action to be performed and its purpose is stated IOT create the desired effect. Consequently, the FST must focus assets on HPTs. On the basis of the commander’s guidance, the JFSE recommend how each target should be engaged in terms of the effects of fire and attack options to use and, in case the choice falls on the land-based indirect fire, decide which “types of fire” the FS unit must perform IOT create the desired effect.
  • FST (Fire Support Task): Describes the targeting objective fires must achieve against a specific enemy formation’s function or capability. Formations are HPTs or contain one or more HPTs. FST-s are formulated from commander’s guidance for fires.
  • A fully developed Fire Support Task includes a task, purpose, method, and effects. The task describes what targeting objectives (e.g. delay, disrupt, limit, harass or destroy), fires must achieve on an adversary capability. The purpose describes why the task contributes to manoeuvre. The method describes how the task will be accomplished by assigning responsibility to observers or units and delivery assets and providing amplifying information or restrictions. Typically the method is described by covering three categories: priority, allocation, and restrictions. Effects quantify successful accomplishment of the task.
  • Based on the analysis by the FSCOORD the fire support task is as follows: (1) Task- Disrupt enemy observation of breaching forces. (2) Purpose- To allow breaching forces to conduct the breach without being engaged by effective, direct and indirect fire. (3) Effect- Enemy unable to observe breaching forces until breach is complete.
