1. Encircling nets (seines and lampara nets)
- The length of netting is restricted to 800 m and the drop to 120 m, except in the case of tuna seines.
2. The task of surrounding nets is to encircle a fish school in such a way that it cannot escape; the fish are landed with dip nets out of the encircling net; the bestknown forms of surrounding nets are ring nets and purse seines.
