Ingliskeelne termin "electronic intelligence" tähistab ka vastava info kogumisega seotud luuretegevust ning selles tähenduses on soovitatav kasutada eestikeelse vastena terminit "elektrooniline luure". Lisaks tähistab "intelligence" inglise keeles ka luurega tegelevat organisatsiooni.

Electromagnetic intelligence is a subset of signals intelligence.
ELINT is derived from the technical assessment of electro-magnetic non-communications emissions such as those produced by radars and by missile guidance systems. It also covers lasers and infrared devices and any other equipment that produces emissions in the electromagnetic spectrum.
The term also refers to: a) the activities that result in the product, and b) the organizations engaged in such activities.
