The overall Community objective is to reduce the demand for energy by 18 % by the year 2010 in order to contribute to meeting the EU's commitments to combat climate change and to improve the security of energy supply. Research activities will focus in particular on Eco-Buildings to generate energy savings and improve environmental quality as well as quality of life for occupants.
