The Corrugating medium test gives information about the behaviour of corrugated paper, once it has been formed in a fluter. A section of corrugated paper is glued, one-sided, to a carrier paper and then compression-loaded. The maximum load is characteristic of the behaviour of paper after fluting. A disadvantage of this method: only the A-flute is tested. If the crush resistance is to be determined, the behaviour of other types of flutes must be mathematically calculated.
