Good to know
  • The principal cause is atheromatous disease of the coronary arteries. The discomfort is commonly brought on by exertion, but emotional tension may also precipitate it and, in some cases, pain occurs at rest or during sleep.
  • Chest pain may be accompanied by other symptoms (such as nausea, shortness of breath, or pain in the neck, shoulder, jaw, arm, or back). Angina pectoris typically occurs concurrently with coronary heart disease and is often precipitated by physical exertion or emotional stress.
