This is intelligence derived from sound. Due to the nature of the origin of sound, acoustic intelligence is primarily concerned with movement and the intelligence that can be derived from its detection. Examples of acoustic intelligence sources are hydrophones, geophones, SONAR, Integrated Underwater Surveillance System and artillery sound ranging systems.
The term also refers to: a) the activities that result in the product, and b) the organizations engaged in such activities.
