terastes läätse- või nõelja kujuga madalal martensiitmuutuse algtemperatuuril Ms moodustunud martensiit (vt martensiit; vrd kihtmartensiit)
Hea teada
- Plaatmartensiit tekib üldiselt terastes süsinikusisaldusega üle 0,10 %. Plaatmartensiit on tüüpiliselt kõva ja habras.

crystallite of martensite in steels with low Ms temperature of lens- or needle-like shape in cross-section (see: martensite; compare: lath martensite)
Hea teada
- Plate martensite is formed in steels generally with a carbon content greater than 0.1 %. Plate martensite is typically hard and brittle.
