  • haprumine, mis ilmneb teatud parendatavate (karastatud ja noolutatud) konstruktsiooniteraste noolutamisel kindlatel temperatuuridel või aeglasel jahutamisel läbi nende temperatuuride (vt noolutus, parendus, haprumine, pöörduv noolutushaprumine, pöördumatu noolutushaprumine)
  • embrittlement which affects certain quenched and tempered structural steels during tempering at certain temperatures or during slow cooling through these temperatures (see: tempering, quenching and tempering, embrittlement, reversible temper embrittlement, irreversible temper embittlement)

    Good to know
(vt likvatsioon)
  • temper embrittlement that occurs during tempering of quench-hardened steels in the temperature range of 450 °C up to 550 °C or after tempering at higher temperature and during slow cooling through this range (see: temper embrittlement, reversible temper brittleness; compare: irreversible temper embrittlement)
    Good to know
    • It is caused by segregation of trace elements such as Sb, P, As and Pb and is usually avoided by alloying with sufficient amount of W or Mo. The reversible temper embrittlement can be cured by a second tempering at a temperature above 550 oC followed by rapid cooling. (see: segregation)
